What’s New Decoration?

New Decoration, formerly known as “Foreign Colors” (Yangcai), emerged in the late Qing Dynasty as a ceramic decoration technique introduced from abroad. It involves painting various designs or patterns on the surface of white porcelain using enamel pigments, which are then fired in a kiln. Porcelain decorated in this manner is called New Decoration porcelain.
