Japanese tea ceremony, which evolved from Chinese tea culture over a long period of time, has become one of the symbols of Japanese culture. Among tea utensils, porcelain is considered a relatively high-end category. In Japanese cultural history, high-end tea utensils have often played a significant role. Many renowned Japanese tea utensils are made of porcelain, and even the “Yohen Tenmoku Tea Bowl,” preserved in Japan, is originally a porcelain work from southern China. During the Azuchi-Momoyama period, under the promotion of rulers and tea masters, high-end tea utensils became a symbol of wealth even more valuable than land and gold.
