Treasure Moon Vase (Baoyue Ping)

Also known as the “Hugging Moon Vase,” this vessel features a small mouth, a straight neck, and a pair of handles on either side of the neck. Its name derives from its round, moon-like belly. It was a common design produced by the Jingdezhen kilns during the Yongle and Xuande reigns of the Ming Dynasty. Replicas were made during the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, mostly in blue-and-white porcelain.
