What’s Doucai?

Doucai is a type of porcelain that combines underglaze blue-and-white (qinghua) and underglaze red (youlihong) with overglaze polychrome decorations. It was first created during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty and represents a decorative technique that merges underglaze (blue-and-white) and overglaze colors.
