The difference between pottery and porcelain

The difference between pottery and porcelain
Pottery: The body material is ordinary clay, with an iron content generally above 3%. It is fired at temperatures around 900°C, is unglazed or coated with low-temperature glaze, has a coarse and porous texture, and exhibits high water absorption in its cross-section.
Porcelain: The body material is porcelain clay, specifically kaolin, with an iron content generally below 3%. It requires a high firing temperature of 1300°C. After high-temperature baking, the body becomes solid and dense, with minimal water absorption in its cross-section, and produces a clear, metallic sound when struck.
